Finally moved all my sites to new servers after the old servers crashed. For those that i couldn’t contact by email or via the J. Geils Band Yahoo Group i have included below the reason why my sites have been off-line. I’m still waiting for the Hotline to ‘propagate’ to the new server.

Should be a few week before I’m back to some sort of normality.

This is the email i sent out last week:

As you may have noticed, my websites funkyjudge.net, bostonmonkey.net and the Hotline message-board are all off-line and have been for well over a week.

This is due to a ‘primary drive array failing’ on the old server at my hosting company MacHighway. They are trying to recover the data from the server.

[QUOTE] “As you may already be aware, the server your web site(s) are on,
crunchy.itsamac.com (216.183.98.26) is down at this time. We understand
how important your web site is to you. Please be assured that it is
also important to us as this is what we are in the business to do. We
sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

The cause of the downtime is due to the primary drive array failing. We
replaced it with the back up drive array. However, the backup drive
array also failed before we could make a backup of it. Thus the server
has remained down. After many attempts using multiple techniques to
repair the data on the drives by our technicians I decided to send the
drives to a third party data recovery service. They are now doing
everything in their power to recover the data and are working on it
still as I write this. Please note that this failure does not affect
your email and any MySQL database you may have on mysql-a.itsamac.com

As you may guess, this type of dual failure is rare; so rare in fact
that I have not seen it in 25 years of systems administration. We hope
that they will soon have success and we can get your web site(s) up and
running as quick as possible. The odds are good as we have given them
two different storage arrays from which to work. Regrettably nothing is
guaranteed and the data recovery service may not be successful. We may
not know for sure for several more days.”
